Making the descent Piani di Bobbio Barzio in winter with snow is always enjoyable and fun, also fast.
Rarely I get down to the wall beneath the arrival of the cable car, you can do if you do not sinking in the snow, if it is compact or not much, almost always, and also the most scenically beautiful, I follow the pylons of the cable car 14 and 13 cableway Barzio Piani di Bobbio avoiding the bobsled track. The sensations are pleasant, arriving at Passo del Colmo on Bobbio Valley, pylon 12 to turn right and shade in the Valley Rope. Here I follow the road always snowy but beaten, to cross the ski-run rescue Nava Piani di Bobbio. Sometimes I take the trail that passes near the bivouac Black Feathers of Barzio but more often continuous the road, this part I really like, it is the shade and the perfect snow. Passed the bivouac of the Alpine and the chapel of Gesol, the road widens and crosses the track again. Here I follow the track more often slipping in the snow, the slope is quite steep, or on the road with little or too much snow. Within minutes are already at the sharp hairpin of the road at about 1200 meters for putting me in the long stretch of track where the snow is less and I can go down and drive more easily and have maximum fun to get to the hut of the track and continue doing or avoiding the last wall, depending on the snow looking to Valsassina. Further down I follow the way now avoiding the ice to get to Nava continuing in the lawn when there is snow or staying on the trail to exit on the whiffletree at the entrance of the parking lot of the cable car.

Barzio Piani di Bobbio along Rope Valley in winter
One of my classic par excellence, the climb from Barzio to the Plans of Bobbio in the winter, I will have done hundreds of times.
Arrived at the whiffletree of the road / trail before the parking lot of the cable car, the palpitations begin to rise to the emotion. A fleeting check to various signs, Refuge Buzzoni always open, the big tourist sign of Dorsal Orobica Lecco and others, I start to run along the trail that climbs with little slope. After the curve on the right looking the view of the Valley of Bobbio and the cable car that climbs steeply I pass in the small valley below the cabins of the cable car turning left looking over skiers happy and boulders in the valley, while down twenty feet, the cable car parking, nice when it's all full. Turn right into a stretch in the shade and steeper with large pebbles and small caves on the right. After this first effort it opens the lawn of Nava and after a bend the trail here recently cemented continues along the Monte Angelone and the view opens on Introbio Mountains, Mount Cam and Mount Foppabona over 2000 meters and also the spirit changes face. At the junction of Nava at about 900 meters high on the right often open a cabin with someone working the wood and left the mules which is always nice to see. Here the road splits: the left goes to the farm Al Pascolo (Grazing) and the path 19 for the Refuge Buzzoni, right up the valley Rope where the road and the track rescue of skis have a common stretch.
Here the road is very wide and in winter the snow starts, it is the north face of the Valley Rope. A few hundred meters ahead at the junction I choose to go to the track rescue ski, it is faster although steeper leaving the road track on the right. After a bend on right, occurs the first wall, very steep, usually I avoid it there is little snow. After the hut, now always in the shade and cold, I go up to the valley, it is a pleasure, in medium slope and fun, the snow beautiful.
Fifteen minutes later crossing the main road next to a row of fir trees, cutting the bend of the road and climb right on slopes up to the view of the Alpine hut. Here, if the snow is compact I continue doing a little hard work, climbing and alternating the weight of the body to the left and right or with less effort I follow the road passing just above the chapel of Gesol and next to the Feather Black of Barzio Hut where sometimes a jeep is parked. If I follow the road there is a nice stretch in the shade before the sharp bend that leads right up to the last steep slope where you can see the cable car that comes to Piani di Bobbio. At this point I continue with the road or, more rarely with good snow I ascend along the ski track.
Today I continue along the main track, I'm now over 1400 meters high, snow raise in high alpine environment of fir trees, the air is dry, and the engine breathes. After a series of switchbacks I arrive to Passo del Colmo at the end of the Valle di Bobbio with the cabins of the cable car are just above my head and view of Grigne and Valsassina, With little inclination I or cut the trail following the pylons to the arrival of the cable car Barzio Piani di Bobbio or on the right with a view of Mount Orscellera follow the way and the bobsled track with the kids that go down happy as Mauro arrived at Piani di Bobbio in just over an hour.
